Our large treehouse is our roomiest option, with an expanded kitchen area and the most sleeping space.
All three of the Carolina Heritage Outfitter treehouses are:
Tucked away in the woods out of view from the others.
Nestled in the trees on the edge of the Edisto.
Privately accessed by canoe or kayak.
Constructed out of completely natural and local materials.
Cooking utensils, futons, hammocks, camp chairs, and firepits are provided.
Screened with a well-vented sleeping area.
Outdoor grill and picnic table.
Lit with torches and oil candles.
Every Treehouse has a great view of the river.
Each Treehouse Features
A kitchen area with a table and chairs, propane stove, pots and pans, plates and utensils
A dining deck with an outdoor gas grill
A screened sleeping loft with one or two futon mattresses depending on the size of the unit
Futons on the main level that fold out to accommodate an additional sleeping area
Rechargeable lanterns
A swinging rope hammock
A few games such as dominoes and playing cards
Outhouse facilities located near each unit.
Things to Keep in Mind
Visitors pack and transport their own food supplies for all meals. Other items to bring include sleeping bags, pillowcases, and towels. Carolina Heritage Outfitters provides a list of other suggested items to pack for your adventure.
Family travelers should note that, in the interest of safety, children should be ages 11 or older to stay in the tree houses, although the company is working on creating a safe tree house environment for younger children.
The leisurely 23-mile trip is divided into about 13 miles on day one from the put-in to the tree houses and 10 miles on day two to the end of the trip at the Refuge Outpost. While most visitors choose to stay one night, additional overnights can be arranged.

Our Story
Founded in 1989, Carolina Heritage Outfitters is the original outfitter and the only treehouse camping on the Edisto River in South Carolina. Owner Chris Burbulak and our CHO Crew invite you to call us or email us with any questions you may have about an Adventure on the Edisto.
When you are floating down the Edisto to your private overnight site, walking the Edisto River Refuge’s trails, or relaxing on the deck of your private treehouse, you are in a fragile ecosystem, an annual flood plain (thus Treehouses). Great blue herons, egrets, wood storks, pileated woodpeckers, wood ducks, wild turkeys, deer, muskrats, and raccoons are residents on the refuge. Frogs and owls serenade.
